NORMA COLE

COMPLEX OBJECT

no door
Brushed aside
whatever immaculate
architecture

in a flash
energy looks just
like ordinary matter

blue plastic tarps
against the sun,the rain

the children and the
women who were
trying to shield them

LEAVING THE GARDENS OF ETERNITY

Spiral galaxies were expanding
at the center of nothing
complication swinging

from the other side
“I can’t control my soldiers,”said
the Congolese government officer

pigeons on the other balcony
examine minerals and tears (alarms)
guess what:you can sit at the table

and watch—hello stranger—
the man was kicking a horse
then the man fell down

SAFE SURRENDER SITE

go to security about
the forms the little
gifts not on the map

dots coalesce in densely
populated districts

payload the dreamshapes
in astronomical units
a nice gentle city – there

must be one,soldier

IRIS

the universal message
more massacre

at the bottom
maps were hardly
more edifying

on the floor,on the
wall,on the chair
on me violet

turquoise green yellow
orange red we had to
bring the bodies out
